Meet Our Pastors
Dr. Eric Cole serves as Senior Pastor of Shalom Community Christian
Church, Greensboro, NC which he started in November, 1999.
He holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics from
Morehouse College, Atlanta, Ga; a Masters of Biostatistics from the
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; a Masters of Divinity degree
from Duke University; a Doctor of Ministry degree from United
Theological Seminary, and has completed all coursework for the Doctor of
Philosophy degree from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC.
Dr. Cole is also currently the Faith
Community Liaison with the Guilford County School (GCS) System having
responsibility to assist the faith community address academic, cultural,
health, and social challenges faced by GCS students. He also teaches
Christian Leadership and math at Laurel University and is math tutor for
GCS. He is formerly the Director of the Religion Department at Bennett
College where also served as the Interim Chair of the Math/Computer
Science Department, math professor, and the President of the Faculty. He
has corporate work experience at Glaxo Pharmaceutical Company (now
GlaxoSmithKline) where he served as a statistician, human resources
supervisor, and manager of the medical education department. Lastly, he
is the author of the following books, "Victory in the Midst of
Adversity" and "Are you Ready for a Miracle?"
He currently serves on the Executive
Committee Board for Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. He was
the former Board Chair of Family Promise of Guilford County and Summit
House, Inc. He has served on numerous boards including American Red
Cross, Greensboro Urban Ministry, and Goodwill Industries, Inc.
Pastor Cole has a passion for
social justice as evidenced when he and a deacon from the church spent the
night on the streets of Greensboro in order to gain a better understanding
of the challenges facing the homeless in the community. As the result of
that experience, his insights have been helpful in assisting the city to
address a number of the issues surrounding homelessness.
Pastor Dionne Cole serves as
Pastoral Administrator at Shalom. She holds a B.S. degree in Business
Marketing from University of Maryland, College Park.
She has worked in consumer marketing for
over 20 years for companies such as Reckitt & Colman, Nabisco, and Kraft
Foods. She has been actively involved in multiple capacities for the
past 30 years in churches ranging in size from 15 to over 25,000
for teaching the Word of God and desire to see the people of God live
according to the Word is evident in all they do. They are committed to
modeling God’s love in ministry, marriage and the mission to which God
in Gibsonville, North Carolina; have two daughters, Erica Lynn Cole and
Andrea LaNiece Cole, and two Akitas named Duke and Prince Cole.
